Laya Buchanan is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC), with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN). She is passionate about providing quality, compassionate, and comprehensive mental health services to adolescents and adults. Laya possesses strong clinical skills enhanced by her natural ability to build rapport with clients and families. She follows evidence-based guidelines blended with clinical experience, personal observation, and intuition.

Prior to becoming a PMHNP, Laya served in the United States Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. Following her service, she became a nurse providing care in the home for special needs clients and their families. Throughout her experience providing care for clients across the lifespan and in various environments, she saw her passion for providing mental health services to individuals in all aspects of life. Laya values client involvement, interprofessional collaboration, and evidence-based practice when creating an individualized plan of care. Her goal is to empower clients and break free of the stigma associated with their illness through supportive measures.

Laya enjoys and values her faith, spending time with her family, working out, camping, and serving others.
